Hi there,

Now I've really had it with the govmunts tv broadcaster.

We live in a valley which does not receive a terrestial tv signal. We bought
one of the first analogue / dish installations in our area. With that setup
we no problems. A couple of years ago we had to then buy a new digital
decoder at our own expense. From then on we had problems .... could hear the
agents over the phone typing away on their PCs to get us hooked up again.

Now we receive nothing except open time on mnet. I phoned them up and they
inform me that I have to pay up again as my account is due. They want about
R180,00 on top of my up to date tv licence. I'm not prepared to pay that.

Has anyone else circumvented this unethical busines practice. I'm quite
prepared to fork out for a card reader / writer and do my own thing .... the
dogs won't tolerate uninvited guests so inspectors are of no concern. I
usually do things by the book but this is the pits. My neighbours house is
about 3m away and he mentioned we could share his signal ( full bouquet ) if
I will find out what's involved and it doesn't degrade his reception.

.... and please guys, don't preach to me about " it's the right thing to do
"

Any ideas will be appreciated and if there is someone who can point me in
the direction of card readers I'll be grateful. I have contacts in
Australia, England and the USA so it should,'t be too difficult.

Regards

A PC+Sat reciever card is the easiest way to descramble SABS channels. There
are lots of software applications that can descramble the "Vivid" channels
without any difficulty.

you have a two options, a STB (need no PC) or a PCI card route

before you go ahead make sure the encryption is crackable (for example
DStv's Irdeto v2 is not crackable at this moment yet)

um some bad news the law for tv liscence is not if you use at tv or not,
it is a liscence to recieve a video signal, so using a pc etc you are
still liable for liscence fee, so it is not really a way around it.
sorry to say

Hi,

I sympathise with you on this matter. Do you just want to get the SABC
channels? or DSTV? Did you change your old analogue decoder for the new
digital decoder? Tell me what equipment you have and I could try to help
you. I used to work for a satellite TV company and I'm still quite the
satellite enthusiast!
