Do you know when Nochoice will start broadcasting Widescreen pictures?
Like in the rest of the world?
I dont want to buy a widescreen TV just to watch DVD.
Multichoice is ripping us of, we pay a lot of money every month for
old technology.
Even in Australia they have digital widescreen, wake up MC!

Its called digital television.

Everyone in South Africa have been talking about it for the past five
years...The problems with DTT is that someone has to come up with a
business plan for it to work. Nochoice won't start it because as yet,
its not profitable anywhere in the world...Remember ITV Digital
flopped leaving a lot of English First Division Clubs pissed off.

A digital standard has already been agreed to, DVB-T and DVB-S, the
European standard for terrestrial and satellite broadcasting by the
government.

I'd like South Africa to go the HDTV route, like in America and
Australia. Instead of "multi-channeling" the bandwidth for each
channel is used by only one channel broadcasting in High Definition
colour and Dolby Digital...

Expect the SABC and etv to be the first broadcasters to go digital
within the next two years, probably using a standard similiar to that
used in the UK eg.Freeview...Standard Definition Picture and stereo
audio at best...just check out other ng and you'll hear the Brits
bitching and moaning about picture quality and that bad audio they're
getting.

Sentech have boasted that they've got the infrastructure in place to
start distributing digital channels tommorrow.

Hi guys

Where can I get more info regarding satellite tv in South Africa.
Information i'm looking for include:

Free to Air channels.
Other receivers available for purchase (mobile or PCI cards).
How do satellite technology work.

I know for a fact that you can receive other channels on your DSTV receiver
by changing a few frequencies here and there. In fact I have done this and
received Botswana TV to name one example, but I would like to know if there
are more options on KU-band.

Any help will be appreciated.

TIA

JK
