as far as i know it comes in as NTSC so recording could pose a challenge
for some.

I'm getting a perfectly watchable picture on National Geographic, but
find that MSNBC is having a lot of problems (artifacts) despite having
what seems like a stronger signal. My dish is an old one, so I guess
I'll
have to go check LNB centering, etc. In the meanwhile I was
wondering if anyone else is getting MSNBC perfectly, and if so
what size dish are you using?

thanks

Might be that it's NTSC and your decoder isn't keeping the
lipsync well. If you try output in NTSC does it give a better
picture (although in black an white)?

Just a suggestion

Ed, I don't know about the multichoice decoders - mine only seems
to do PAL I or G. I can't get it to lock onto lower symbol rates
anymore (but allows me to input them), so I can't try it for you.

I know that with the Elsat decoder that I can choose NTSC or PAL.
When I use PAL, I get lipsync and time problems like Gavin's.
When I use NTSC it's fine. (Although I'm using a monitor which
locks onto the sync automatically). Since Gavin's using a 4m
dish, I don't think it's a signal problem.

I think Mr Mulder uses a satellite card in his PC, which caters
for the different standards.

let me know it will be awesome else will just get a real decoder
(anything non-multichoice) to do the job right.

Well it's not the decoder (Manhattan DSR 5500CI) which is
multisystem (NTSC, various versions of PAL, and Auto).
I tried them all!

The problem looks like one of 'drop-out' - so I'll try tweaking the
dish and feed horn. We do get a lot of monkeys here - so anything's
possible!

On a slightly differnt topic - does anyone have any any recommendations
for a cheap combiner/switch? I have to deal with a C Band and two Ku
band feeds.

Thanks

Gavin

My name is Albert Truter. I live in Somerset West (30 km from Cape Town)
I have 2.6 meter mesh dish and a PC based satellite receiver.
Will I be able to pick up Telstar 12? Is there anybody in the Cape Town
area who picks up the signal?

Please reply to ***@absamail.co.za as I only connect weekends to
the net.

Greetings all
