HIFI corp is selling the topfield TF4000PVR satellite receiver and
recorder. Is anybody using it ? Would like some feedback. Its priced
at 3799.00. Any idea how does this price compare internationally .

Where you are going to use it? I think I used to use TOPfield for THAICOM
3 sattelite free to air channels, particularly Russian cnnels, then TARBS
Australian company scrambled them, and I was forced to buy TARBS decoder.
Now TARBS in Australia gone bankrupt,no Russian channels from TaiCom
anymore.
I do not remember my Topfield Receiver exact model ,lent it to friend
sattelite installer, but I think I pad between R2700-3000R only.
Regards

The decoder should work for DSTV but remember MultiChoice wont suport it so
you wont get any software upgrades and if there is a problem you wont be
able to phone the hot line

I believe that Multi Choice will be launching a decoder with hard drive next
year. I advice you wait, or get yourself a seperate DVD and harddrive combo.
and use it with your existing decoder.

Thanks for that info. I had a look at the decoder in action at HI-FI
corp. it does not support the EPG so you can only record the current
or next program event though the sales guys at HiFi claim otherwise.
